ABOUT THE PRINTS

"Orchids and Stream" 1998 acrylic 36x48"
Instead of the typical distant views found in my landscapes, I chose to focus on the close-up subject matter. Most of the painting is void of details, allowing the orchids, however small, to hold the viewers attention. Only the bright areas in the sky and water allow the eye to move beyond them. From looking at the sketch it seems clear that these values were indeed an important aspect of the piece. I took what could have been a very busy subject and placed it in a more quiet background, simple in detail, yet strong in value.
"Orchids and Stream" showed in a Juried Exhibition at The Wailoa Center in 1999.
