On Kailua Bay the famous and very beautiful Kona Village is depicted here in this heart felt painting titled, "Kailua Bay in Kona" by Margaret Stanton. Early morning sunlight is just beginning to fall across this sleepy town on the Big Island of Hawaii west side at a time when teams of rowers are ready to put their Kayaks into the water. Kailua Bay is famous for rowing, and some of the finest snorkeling in the world, plus Kona Coffee. |

"Kailua Bay in Kona "
This painting was created from a photograph of the Kailua-Kona
Village. It's a great scene, but there's a lot there, and too much
busyness in a painting is something that I try to avoid. The
challenge here was to use all that busyness and detail of the palm
trees and the foreground kayaks to point to the center of interest.
Next, I quieted the details in the water and the distant village to
provide contrast. Now, that quiet area is a resting place for the
viewers eye around and beyond the center of interest.
